Does LP Polster make folding cushions custom-made?
-
Yes. We make folding cushions to measure according to your desired dimensions. The individual cushion elements are connected so they can be folded together or unfolded. This makes them especially suitable for motorhomes, campers, caravans, boats and multifunctional seating and sleeping areas.
What cushion thickness is suitable for a folding cushion used for both sitting and sleeping?
-
If the folding cushion is to be used for both sitting and sleeping, we generally recommend a thickness of about 8 to 12 cm. 10 cm is a very good compromise for many applications between seating comfort, sleeping comfort and space required when folded.
What foam firmness do you recommend for folding cushions?
-
The right foam firmness depends on the use. If the cushion is used mainly as a seating surface, we recommend a firmer, more shape-stable quality. If it is to serve regularly as a bed, comfortable lying comfort should also be taken into account. We're happy to recommend a suitable foam quality based on your dimensions and use.
How are the individual parts of a folding cushion connected to each other?
-
The individual elements can be connected via the cover, creating a flexible fold line. The exact execution depends on the direction and how often the cushion needs to be folded.
Can I determine where the cushion is folded?
-
Yes. The position and direction of the fold points can be made individually to your requirements. It's best to send us a simple sketch with the individual dimensions and the desired fold direction.
Are folding cushions also possible with multiple fold points?
-
Yes. Depending on the construction, folding cushions can consist of two or more connected elements. This also allows for more complex seating, back and sleeping solutions.
Can folding cushions be made with an anti-slip underside?
-
Yes. On request, we can fit the relevant surfaces with an anti-slip base. This can be especially useful in a motorhome, caravan or boat, so the cushions slip less during use.
What fabric is suitable for folding cushions in a motorhome or camper?
-
We recommend a durable, easy-care upholstery fabric suitable for frequent use as a seating and sleeping surface. Colour, texture and material can be chosen to match the interior
Are folding cushions also possible in special shapes?
-
Yes. In addition to rectangular elements, we can accommodate angled cuts, curves, cutouts and other special shapes. Custom shapes are often needed, especially for motorhomes, campers and boats. A sketch or template makes precise manufacturing easier.
What information does LP Polster need for a custom folding cushion?
-
We need the length, width and thickness of each element, as well as the position and direction of the desired fold points. For special shapes, it's best to also send us photos, a drawing or a template. Please also let us know whether the cushion will mainly be used for sitting, sleeping, or both.
Are the covers removable?
-
On request, we make removable covers with a zip that can be easily cleaned.
Are special shapes and rounded folding cushions also possible?
-
Yes. In addition to classic rectangles, we also make rounded corners, angled cuts, cutouts and other special shapes. For complicated shapes, you can provide us with a drawing, photos or a template.
Which cover fabric does LP Polster recommend for garden cushions?
-
For garden and outdoor cushions, we recommend special outdoor fabrics, for example from the Agora collection. These are designed for outdoor use and offer better properties against moisture and sunlight than regular upholstery fabrics. However, a sewn cushion is never fully waterproof due to seams and zips.

Is 5 or 6 cm enough for a folding cushion?
-
A thickness of 5–6 cm is possible and is especially suitable when little space is available when folded. For regular sleeping and longer sitting, however, 8–10 cm or more usually offers significantly greater comfort.
Questions about folding cushions made to measure | FAQ
Can I also order special shapes and cutouts?
-
Yes. We make cushions and mattresses with curves, angled cuts, wheel arch cutouts and individual contours to your dimensions.
Can I order just new covers or just custom foam from LP-Polster?
-
Yes. You don't necessarily have to order a complete cushion. We make both custom foam cuts and individual cushion covers. This means, for example, existing garden cushions can be renewed if only the foam or only the cover needs to be replaced.
Can zips be positioned individually?
-
Yes. The position of the zip can be taken into account for custom-made items. A sketch or a photo with the desired position is helpful for this.
Can cushions also be made from a template?
-
Yes. For complex special shapes, a precisely fitted template can be useful. On this basis, we can make the cushion according to the desired shape.
Can I receive fabric samples before ordering?
-
Yes. Fabric samples can be requested to help choose colour and material.
What areas of application does LP-Polster cover?
-
Custom folding cushions, custom folding mattresses, motorhome folding cushions, fold-out seat cushions and more.
Is there a volume discount for larger orders?
-
For larger quantities, individual volume discounts are possible. We're happy to prepare a corresponding quote for this.
