Does LP Polster make sofa and couch cushions custom-made?

Yes. We make sofa and couch cushions individually to measure. You determine the dimensions, cushion thickness, foam quality, fabric and colour to match your sofa or couch.

Can I have old or saggy sofa cushions completely renewed?

Yes. If you still like your couch but the existing cushions have become saggy, too soft or uncomfortable, we can make completely new cushions to measure. This significantly improves seating comfort without having to replace the entire sofa.

What cushion thickness do you recommend for a comfortable sofa?

For sofa seat cushions, we often recommend a thickness of 8 to 15 cm. 10 to 12 cm offers very good seating comfort for many sofas. For deep couches and lounge sofas, 12 to 15 cm or more can also be a good idea.

Is 8 cm cushion thickness enough for a sofa?

Yes. With a suitable foam quality, 8 cm can already offer good seating comfort. If the sofa is used daily and over extended periods, 10 to 12 cm is often more comfortable.

What foam firmness is suitable for sofa and couch cushions?

The right firmness depends on cushion thickness, body weight, use and desired seating feel. For seating areas, we generally recommend a shape-stable, load-bearing quality. Depending on whether you prefer to sit soft, medium-firm or firm, the suitable version can be chosen.

Should back cushions be softer than the seat cushions?

In most cases, yes. The seating surface should support the body sufficiently, while a softer back cushion provides more comfort. Back cushions can also be finished with padding and jersey, giving them a pleasantly soft, high-quality look.

Can seat and back cushions be built differently?

Yes. Seat and back cushions can be individually matched to their respective function. For example, the seat can be made firmer and the backrest softer. Different cushion thicknesses are also easily possible.

Are special shapes, curves and angled couch cushions possible?

Yes. Besides classic rectangular cushions, we also make curves, angled corners, cutouts and other special shapes. For more complex shapes, you can send us a sketch, photos or a template.

Can sofa cushions be fitted with an anti-slip underside?

Yes. On request, we can fit your seat cushions with an anti-slip base. This is especially useful for loose seat cushions and can reduce slipping on the substructure.

Can I order just new covers for my existing sofa cushions?

Yes. If the existing cushion cores are to continue being used, we can also make new cushion covers to measure. Fabric, colour and finish can be chosen individually.

Can I provide my own fabric for the sofa cushions?

Yes. You can send us your own cover fabric for processing. We handle the professional workmanship of the supplied fabric. However, we cannot accept liability for the quality and properties of material supplied by the customer.

Are the covers removable?

Can I configure my sofa and couch cushions directly online?

Yes. You can conveniently configure your custom sofa and couch cushions online. Enter the desired dimensions and choose cushion thickness, foam quality, fabric, colour and desired extras. For special shapes or individual requirements, you can also send us photos, a sketch or a template.

Can I order just new covers or just custom foam from LP-Polster?

Yes. You don't necessarily have to order a complete cushion. We make both custom foam cuts and individual cushion covers. This means, for example, existing garden cushions can be renewed if only the foam or only the cover needs to be replaced.

Can zips be positioned individually?

Yes. The position of the zip can be taken into account for custom-made items. A sketch or a photo with the desired position is helpful for this.

Can cushions also be made from a template?

Yes. For complex special shapes, a precisely fitted template can be useful. On this basis, we can make the cushion according to the desired shape.

Can I receive fabric samples before ordering?

Is there a volume discount for larger orders?

For larger quantities, individual volume discounts are possible. We're happy to prepare a corresponding quote for this.

More information on cushion thickness:

3–5 cm Thin pads, seat cushions, light benches, panels. Rather firm / low comfort – serves mainly as a visual accent or light protection, little cushioning of its own.
6–8 cm Dining chairs, simple benches, close-fitting pads. Good everyday comfort – provides solid support for upright sitting over medium periods.
8–10 cm Benches, smaller sofas, reading corners, pallet furniture. High seating comfort – pleasant give combined with stability; ideal for regular, longer sitting.
10–12 cm High-quality sofas, living-room upholstered furniture, generous seating corners. Very comfortable – optimal balance of support and cosiness for everyday living spaces.
12–15 cm+ Deep lounge sofas, daybeds, high-quality back cushions. Especially soft and voluminous – maximum comfort factor, ideal for relaxing, lying down and sinking in deeply.

Important: cushion thickness alone doesn't determine comfort. What matters is the combination of cushion height, foam quality, firmness and desired seating feel. A thicker cushion is therefore not automatically softer.
