Yacht and boat cushions made to measure
| FAQ
Does LP Polster make yacht and boat cushions custom-made?
-
Yes. We make yacht and boat cushions individually to measure. This includes seat cushions, back cushions, sleeping areas, sun loungers and complete cushion sets. Dimensions, shape, cushion thickness, foam quality, fabric and colour can be chosen to match your boat or yacht.
What cushion thickness do you recommend for boat seats?
-
For comfortable boat seats, we often recommend a cushion thickness of about 8 to 12 cm. 10 cm is a very good compromise for many benches and seating areas between comfort, stability and an appealing look. The optimal thickness depends on the existing construction and the desired seating feel.
What cushion thickness is suitable for a sun lounger or sleeping area on a boat?
-
For sun loungers and sleeping areas, 6 to 10 cm is often suitable. If the sleeping area is used regularly and for extended periods, we recommend 8 to 10 cm combined with a suitable foam quality. With enough space, thicker cushions can of course also be made.
What foam firmness is suitable for yacht and boat cushions?
-
For seating areas, we recommend a shape-stable, load-bearing foam so the cushion offers sufficient support even with regular use. Back and sleeping cushions can be made softer depending on the desired comfort. The right firmness should always be chosen together with the cushion thickness and intended use.
What fabric is suitable for boat and yacht cushions outdoors?
-
For use on boats and yachts, we especially recommend Silvertex® – premium fabrics for boat & yacht. Silvertex® is excellently suited to high-quality seat, back and sleeping cushions in marine and outdoor settings.
The material is water-repellent, UV-resistant, durable and easy to care for, making it especially suitable for areas regularly exposed to sun, moisture and intensive use.
At LP Polster, you can choose from various Silvertex® colours and have your yacht or boat cushions made individually to match your desired design.
Are yacht and boat cushions completely waterproof?
-
A finished sewn cushion can generally not be guaranteed 100% waterproof. Even with water-repellent materials, moisture and water can get in, especially at seams and zips, during prolonged wet conditions. We therefore recommend storing cushions as protected and dry as possible during extended non-use or heavy rain.
Are special shapes possible for yacht and boat cushions?
-
Yes. Individual shapes are often needed, especially on boats and yachts. We make curves, angled cuts, angled corners, cutouts and other special shapes, among others, to match the existing seating and sleeping areas.
Can boat cushions be made from a template?
-
Yes. A template can be especially useful for bow cushions, sun loungers and complex boat shapes. For simpler special shapes, a precise, dimensioned drawing is often enough. You can also send us photos of the existing surface so we can better assess the desired version.
Can boat cushions be made with an anti-slip underside?
-
Yes. On request, we can fit your boat cushions with an anti-slip underside. This can be especially useful for loose seat and sleeping cushions on smooth surfaces and reduces slipping during use.
Can complete cushion sets be made for a boat or a yacht?
-
Yes. We make both individual cushions and complete yacht and boat cushion sets to measure. Seating surfaces, backrests, sun loungers, bow cushions and other elements can be made to match each other and fitted with the same cover fabric.
Can I order just new covers for my existing boat cushions?
-
Yes. If your existing cushion cores can continue to be used, we also make custom boat and yacht cushion covers. Fabric, colour and finish can be chosen individually. On request, you can also provide us with your own suitable cover fabric for processing.
Are the covers removable?
-
On request, we make removable covers with a zip that can be easily cleaned.

Can I configure my yacht and boat cushions directly online?
-
Yes. Many custom yacht and boat cushions can be conveniently configured online at LP Polster. Enter your desired dimensions and choose cushion thickness, foam quality, fabric, colour and desired extras.
-
For special shapes, curves, angled cuts or individual requirements, you can also send us photos, a dimensioned sketch or a template.
Typical use, height and comfort
-
3–5 cm – Thin pads & covers
Compact solution for areas where little cushion height is needed. -
5–8 cm – Bench pads & occasional seating
Good comfort for benches and cushions not used permanently. -
8–10 cm – Regularly used seat cushions
High seating comfort and a good choice for daily use. -
10–12 cm – Seat, lounge & comfort cushions
Very comfortable and ideal for cosy seating and lounge areas. -
12–15 cm+ – Deep seats, sleeping & lounge cushions
Especially comfortable for generous seating and sleeping areas. -
LP-Polster recommendation: for an individual project, there's no single correct cushion thickness. What matters is the application, available space, desired comfort and the right foam quality. If you're unsure about your choice, you can simply send us your project with photos and dimensions.
4–6 cm – Thin pads & limited build height
Compact solution for areas where only little space is available for the cushion.
6–8 cm – Sun loungers & back cushions
Good comfort for sleeping areas and back cushions that don't need a great cushion height.
8–10 cm – Boat seats, benches & sleeping areas
High comfort and a good choice for regularly used cushions on boats and yachts.
10–12 cm – Yacht lounges & frequently used seating areas
Very comfortable and ideal for seating areas used regularly and for longer periods.
12–15 cm+ – Deep lounge & comfort cushions
Especially comfortable for generous seating and lounge areas.
LP-Polster recommendation: For frequently used boat seats and benches, 8 to 12 cm cushion thickness is a good starting point. For sun loungers and sleeping areas, 6 to 10 cm can also be sufficient depending on the construction. What always matters is the combination of cushion thickness, foam quality and desired seating or lying feel.
